Cyprus, also called “ love island ”,is the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea (after Sicily and Sardinia), Cyprus is geographically situated in the eastern Mediterranean and just south of the Anatolian peninsula (or Asia Minor) of the Asian mainland; thus, it is commonly included in the Middle East (see also Western Asia and Near East). Turkey is 75 kilometres (47 miles) . It is a sunny island with beautiful landscapes.

Money
The Cypriot pound is the currency of Cyprus. The Cypriot pound i abbreviated as Cyp, although the traditional ₤ sign may still be seen locally. the exchange rate is 1 CYP = 1,715 euros, and 1 € = 0,58 Cyp. The Cyprus national currency will be replaced by the Euro in January 2008.
Visa
If you are an european union member, you do not need any visa if you want to stay less than 3 months. You just need to present a valid passport or I.D.
VERY IMPORTANT : A traveller can only access to Cyprus by using legal access point such as international airports of Larnaka and Paphos or by the harbours of Larnaka, Lemesos (Limassol) and Paphos.
Health :
IThere's no special risk in Cyprus, except the Sun for those with sensitive skin. But water supply can be a problem in Malta.

Climate
The climate is temperate and Mediterranean with dry summers and variably rainy winters. Summer temperatures range from warm at higher elevations in the Troodos mountains to hot in the lowlands. Winter temperatures are mild at lower elevations, where snow rarely occurs
